All NSF and NSmen have to pass their individual physical proficiency tests that comprises of 5 stations:

  1. Chin-up
  2. Sit-up
  3. Standing broad jump
  4. Shuttle-run
  5. 2.4km run
In order to pass your IPPT, you can follow the tips given here, here and here.

Or you can do these three things:

A) Option 1
Eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly 3-4x a week for at least 30 minutes each time preferably with aerobic activity e.g. jogging, cycling, swimming. Do chin-ups, sit-ups, broad jumps and shuttle runs on your own. Train for 1-2 months prior to your test date. Avoid alcohol and sleep more than 7 hours the night (or nights) before IPPT and hydrate yourself well. Do proper warm-ups before the test and keep focused. Try the IPPT test at the gyms if you prefer to run in air-conditioned comfort.

B) Option 2
Get yourself medically excused and don't waste time on this IPPT sh**.

C) Option 3
Emigrate.

I am one of those who took up option 2 after completing my active service.

Good for you. The system is designed such that the marginally fit people suffer the most. If you are fit enough to pass medical tests but not fit to clear IPPT, you are in the Singapore equivalent of hell through RT, IPT and the like.
